The Bachelor

Would you believe some of the best relationship advice I've ever received came from The Bachelor? Do you remember when Tenley was talking about her failed marriage? She was exploring what went wrong and remembered how they wouldn't get up from the computer or step away from the tv when the other came home. She wondered if they hadn't taken each other's presence for granted that maybe things would have been different. Regardless of what was the cause and what was the symptom of larger problems that idea stuck with me. I still would like to be better at it, but when Brooke leaves or when she comes home I try to be at the door greeting her or sending her off. Brooke doesn't have the opportunity to return the gesture nearly as often, but I sure had a big smile on my face when I came home from my wedding last weekend and saw her standing in the doorway. It's the little things, no? Thanks, ABC!
